Dolcetto and Barbera, an idea for summer reds
Dolcetto and Barbera The summer has finally arrived, accompanied by the appearance of lighter and fresher dishes on the table, rich in fruit and vegetables, but difficult to pair with the typically robust red wines of the Langa region. However, Piedmont's wine production is very diverse, and the warmer weather is a perfect excuse to try out the local wines and discover, or rediscover, wines like Dolcetto and Barbera, which, in cooler months, tend to be looked over in favor of the more famous Barolo and Barbaresco.

The Dolcetto d'Alba Rossana and Barbera d'Alba Piana have long been part of the Ceretto family's history. These wines were among the first, along with Nebbiolo d'Alba Bernardina (formerly called Lantasco), Barbaresco Asij, and Barolo Zonchera, to be produced by the winery's founder, Riccardo Ceretto. The Dolcetto and Barbera are vinified at the Monsordo Bernardina Estate from grapes grown on the Rossana hill in Alba and the Bernardina vineyard surrounding the Monsordo Bernardina Estate, our headquarters just outside of Alba.

The wines are aged only in stainless steel tanks, and are soft and easy to drink, perfect for pairing with vegetable dishes, white meats, pastas and even fish. They are ideal accompaniments for the summer table or a plate of traditional Piedmontese appetizers.

Try the new vintage, 2009, newly released on the market, characterized by a marked fruity nose and a pleasant acidity and freshness.

Summer in the vineyards
Summer in the vineyards We often talk about what happens in the cellar or the release of new vintages because a new bottle to taste is synonymous to fun, but the summer months for a wine producer signifies a lot of hard work in the vineyards. The vines are growing in this period and need a lot of attention.

Following a very snowy winter and one of the most rainy springs in the last 20 years, the explosion of warm weather has allowed us to recuperate the delay in maturation of the vines, bringing us back to normal for this time of year. The important tasks of training, trimming and thinning out of the vine are carried out in order to increase sun exposure and improve airflow so the vineyard is best prepared for the harvest.

The bunches begin to form, though the individual grapes are still very sparse and separated. The vine is healthy and very vigorous, a beautiful sight for those who have the possibility to take a weekend trip to the Langa.

A summer solstice
full of events and birthday celebrations
A summer solstice full of Events and Birthday Celebrations Valorization of the territory, art and wine were the connecting thread the weekend of June 19-21 at Ceretto.

Many occasions to celebrate:

- the celebration of the second Michelin star and the fifth anniversary of the Ceretto family's restaurants, La Piola and Piazza Duomo in Alba, opened in 2005 in collaboration with Chef Enrico Crippa;

- an exhibition in honor of American architect Steven Shailer who, with Bill Katz, contributed to the restyling of the space that now hosts the Ceretto family's two restaurants. The exhitibion respresents the first step toward the creation of a Foundation for the valorization and support of contemporary art, another example of the patron spirit that has always characterized the family. The event was a celebration in which the participating artists gathered to toast to their artistic union with the Ceretto family. Collaborating arists included: Simrel Achenbach, John Baldessarri, Donald Baecheler, James Brown, Francesco Clemente, Lynn Davis, Adam Fuss, Renate Graf, Juan Hamilton, Robert Indiana, Marina Karella, Anselm Kiefer, Tom Levine, Andrew Lord, Thomas Nozkowski, Kiki Smith, Philip Taaffe, Terry Winters and Zachary Wollard;

- the inauguration of the "the Artist's house and studio," the authentic spirit of an artist in residence project that will offer artists from around the world the opportunity to spend time immersed in the breathtaking landscape of the Langhe and Roero, to find inspiration and create;

- to end in style, June 21, the 25th Birthday celebration of Blangè, an event shared with the people of Alba, friends, wine enthusiasts and clients who love this Ceretto white and found themselves celebrating and toasting together in a city decorated in white and gold.
