Over recent years, the wine-art connection has been so exploited that it has
become over-inflated: countless literary tastings, concerts and banquets organized
in the name of Bacchus. In this confused chorus of ostensible links, the Ceretto
family has demonstrated that it has its very own voice by promoting original
projects and innovative ideas.
Convinced that enological research and the pleasure of a good bottle of wine
are above-all a question of culture, Bruno and Marcello have been the driving
force behind ventures benefiting architecture, music, and art in general, like
the ‘patrons’ of days gone by.
These are never impromptu ventures: the natural setting for each idea is to be
found amidst the vines, wine cellars and farm festivals in the hills of Piedmont.
This is the case of the
Premio Langhe Ceretto, the book prize introduced
in 1991 for which a jury made up of a group of international experts and academics
has the task of highlighting works published during the year dealing with themes
linked to food and wine culture.
Another regular appointment in the Ceretto calendar is the
Festa del Blangé, an event organized
to christen the new vintage of Arneis with contributions from authors and journalists.
It has been responsible over the years for bringing a series of
outstanding guests
to Alba, including Maria Luisa Agnese, Alessandro Baricco, Gianluigi Beccaria,
Chiara Beria di Argentine, Enzo Biagi, Lucio Dalla, Umberto Eco, Piero Gastaldo,
Claudio Gorlier, Massimo Gramellini, Aldo Grasso, Gina Lagorio, Gad Lerner, Igor
Mann, Dacia Maraini, Diego Marconi, Ezio Mauro, Enrico Mentana, Paolo Mieli,
Lorenzo Mondo, Folco Portinari, Gianni Riotta, Eugenio Scalfari, Beppe Severgnini,
Marcello Sorgi, Gianni Vattimo, Walter Veltroni, Luca Zingaretti and Giovanna
Zucconi.
